Payment Policy and Assistance

At Mora Valley Community Health Services, our greatest priority is to promote access to health services for medically underserved populations so that such services are available and accessible promptly and in a manner that will assure continuity of service to the residents of the service area. We serve all primary care patients regardless of their ability to pay. MVCHS will conduct the collection of patient accounts in observance of, and consistent with this philosophy and commitment.

We are guided by the following principles:

  • Payment in full is expected at the time of service, including co-payments and deductibles. Financial arrangements may be made with the finance department or clinic staff for large financial obligations. For purposes of this policy, "inability to pay" means the patient has declared an inability to pay, and has been offered the opportunity for participation in the MVCHS sliding fee program. • Primary care services shall be provided to all registered patients regardless of their ability to pay.
  • Fees for services will be assessed utilizing a Sliding Fee Schedule that considers family income and number of family dependents.
  • When other sources of payment are available to the registered patient, the sliding fee schedule will be considered the last source of payment.
  • Eligibility for the sliding fee schedule must be updated annually to ensure eligibility and consider changes in income and/or number of dependents. Registration can be changed or updated more often if financial status changes.
  • Financial counseling which may include MOSAA eligibility determination, sliding fee determination, payment arrangements, social service referrals and other efforts to support patients in maximizing their resources will be available to all patients with need.
  • Collection of patient accounts must be conducted in such a manner that ensures sensitivity to patients' financial status and ensure that patients are treated with dignity.
  • Emergency and acute health care will not be denied.
