Senior Centers
MVCHS operates the two Senior Centers in Mora County – one in the village of Mora and one in the village of Wagon Mound. These programs are designed to provide socialization and nutrition for the area’s senior citizens.
The needs of our participants are assessed utilizing a tool provided by the program’s funding agency – the Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging. We work with individuals on a one to one basis to identify their social needs. We also attempt to reach out to seniors who are not currently participants. Each week, participants are asked if they are aware of people that might be in need of services in their community.
Each of our senior centers provides the following services:
Congregate Meals: A nutritious lunch is served to participants at the center five days per week. This allows seniors to get together and socialize with their peers.
Home Delivered Meals: We deliver meals to a number of homebound persons during the week..
Transportation: MVCHS attempts to assist with the cost of transportation to increase the level of service to Las Vegas for seniors to go to their doctors, run errands, shop, etc.
